Livin' On A Prayer

According to Youtube, "It's My Life" is Bon Jovi's most popular song with over 890 million views. Its my life was written in 2000 though, which doesn't really pertain to the topic of this project. For this reason I will be talking about the second most listened to song which is "Livin' on a Prayer", released in 1986. This song is the one of the most famous songs from the 80's. Released on the album, "Slippery When Wet" this song is voted fan favorite and Topped the charts sitting on Billboards top 100 for over 4 weeks. This song was number 1 on the chart and is now considered the bands signiture song. "Livin' on a Prayer" sold over 800,000 copies and in 2013 was "certified triple platnum," meaning it had over 3 million downloads. The song is about two young kids, Tommy and Gina. They are a young and don't have a lot of money. As the song says, "Gina works the diner all day, working for a man she brings home her pay." "Livin' on a Prayer" is just that, they are living on a prayer that they will be able to make it and survive in the world they are living in. Now this song is actually telling the story of John Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora who were the composers of the song. They were both young at the time and were trying to make it big so this song is a reflection of where the band members came from and the hard work they had to put into it to make it to where they wanted to be.
